Autumn weekend

We arrived under blue skies and sun on Sat 21 Sept. The weather has turned autumnal but we are lucky to have lovely autumn days here. The afternoons are still well over 25° but the mornings are definitely crisp. All was ok at the house and after unloading and ripping out some weeds we went off to the Etape Charollaise for lunch. We even sat out in the garden (maybe the last time this year). J and A had the steak menu and I had the menu du jour (savory cake with salad, rolled chicken breast with bacon and cheese on quinoa and tomato sauce, cheese and then pineapple crème brûlée). It was all delicious as usual.

We then went back to the house and sat in the garden. Both J and I fell asleep. I saw a tree creeper on our lime tree. There are no apples at all in the walled garden, I think the summer was just too hot. Even the vine didn’t have any grapes this year. The wisteria is flowering again. We then were ore active and pulled all the ivy off the pompier’s wall. Very satisfying.

On Sunday morning the weather was beautiful again. Since our baker is on holiday Agnès and I drove to Salornay to the baker there - the queue was out of the door. Then we popped into the little Proxi supermarket to get butter and apples. It is quite a handy for everyday items and closer than Super U for an emergency. J and I went for a walk. There is rain due later and this will be good as all the fields are so dry - no green anywhere.

The other good news is is that the proposed wind turbines will not Ben happening as the company had installed some test material in the woods for the past few months and determined that there was not enough wind to be viable. I think most people here are relieved.
