Brief stay over, Beaune and Précy sous Thil

We left home early after work on 11 Aug and stopped in Cluny for pizzas from the Calabrese. They were doing take out only but we could eat them on their terrace so we did. Really good pizzas.

Arrived at the house and all seemed ok. J pulled up some weeds in the front garden. A sorted her room out. They then watched Being John Malkovich and one of them did a lot of laughing. The weather has turned hot again and the house is lovely and cool.

On Saturday morning I popped tot eh baker to get provisions and J and I ate out the front. Then we did a bit of sorting and tidying and A surfaced. We left at 10h40ish as we were driving to Beaune to meet the Zaratinins. The weather was hot and heavy and mostly sunny but overcast at times. We went cross country and it is a lovely drive past some quality vineyards such as Santenay, Pommard and Mersault. We arrived in Beaune around 12h and it was busy due to it being Saturday and market day. We managed to park the car and we wandered towards the centre and not long afterwards the Z’s found us at a square with a brocante. We wandered over to the resto called La Table du Square which I managed to find on Thursday able to accommodate 7 of us. We sat outside and had a good lunch. There was a formule at 39e which I had with a tomato and mozzarella salad but good quality then echine de porc with aubergine and finally stewed apricot with sorbet and cream and basil - all was very good. After lunch we went back to our cars through town. We were heading off towards Précy sous Thil just under an hour away in the Morvan national park as the Z’s and another family have rented a gite there. They had been there a week already. It is a very grand place - huge - with an indoor and outdoor pool, tennis and pétanque.

We enjoyed the outdoor pool and in the evening had more delicious food and wine and everyone (12 of us) played a game called Empire where everyone tells the scribe the name of a person. The scribe adds two extra and then reads the list twice   the everyone. Then one person tries to guess who another person put down. It they fail then the other person guesses. If they are correct then that person joins them in a empire. It was good fun and not easy to guess who was who. 
Sunday morning most people were up just after 9h and a boulangerie run had already happened so we had breakfast on the other terrace overlooking the tennis court. Most of us then went to Semur en Auxois to the little market. It was a pretty town. Half of us then stopped at Intermarché for provisions. When we got home the Rouches played tennis - have not played for almost 20 years but it came back as was good fun. We were hot and sweaty afterwards so jumped in the pool. After a bits and bobs lunch we left just after 15h and it took us exactly 3 hours to get home. We had a lovely weekend getaway.
