Third Traversée du Désert

So first a confession- I am actually writing this a month after the event since we have been busy travelling and selling our Logras house and looking to buy a new place so all in all a hectic time. For this trip we left on Fri 7th April thanks to the lighter evenings and that weekend being lovely and hot. We also wanted to be there on Fri as we had M. Guillotin coming to discuss the attic bedroom on Sat morning and in fact he came ear than scheduled so it was good we were there. We are thinking of having the eaves and the wall next to the pompiers insulated and plaster boarded. The inside wall which is the other side of the chimney breast we are deciding whether to point it or to lime render it to keep a bit of natural stone. After M. Guillotin left we went to the new GammVert in Cluny which is small but it is good to have another garden centre nearby. I entered a competition to win 2000Euros of vouchers and two weeks later I got a call to say I was a winner - of the lower prize of 10Euros! We then went to Taizé to the pottery where the monks sell their hand made pots which are really lovely. After that we returned to the house and had lunch outside in the hot sun and then did some gardening in the afternoon.

In the evening we took a stroll along the river in Salornay and then tried the new italian restaurant L'Atelier de Rossi which has a very funky industrial style interior and does good pizzas.

Sunday was the annual organised randonnée around the village and we could tell at breakfast that it was going to be a hot day so we decided to set off early. This walk went through the woods and then back via the same route as last time. It was a 7km and we did it in an hour and a half and it was getting very hot by the time we got back to the foyer and claimed our free plate of food. For lunch we had a lovely bbq in the back yard before packing up and heading back.
